Hi, My name is Chris de Feijter and I am a  retired Educational Psychologist, specialized in working with Autistic children in Europe and North America.

In my current career as a Special Education Consultant, I am able to give direct service to students with intensive needs. Currently, I am working for one of the largest school divisions in North America, where I monitor the Individual Education Plans and Personal Program Plans of hundreds of Special Education Students.

If you have any questions about SmartASD®, feel free to contact me by email.

Based on the 15 years of experience in working with students with Intensive Needs, I have created a programme which could you and your Child(ren) with Autism achieve better in school and... develop appropriate social skills at the same time.

SmartASD® is a comprehensive online programme, which runs for about 20 weeks. During those 20 weeks, you will learn how to help your child with their educational and developmental struggles.

No. There are enough eBooks on Autism available on the internet and to be honest, most of those eBooks are of poor quality. SmartASD® isn't just an eBook, but a comprehensive approach in where eWorkbooks play a role. Our eWorkbooks combine knowledge and information with assignments.

Some of the subjects which will be covered:

Learn how to set up an effective Communication system
Learn how to help your child transition into doing other things without a hassle!
Learn how to teach your child to create friendships with peers
Learn how to stop anger tantrums within 2 minutes
Learn how to improve your child's sensory system by playing games

Some parents have asked me: Is that all? Well, yes! But they did not understand that growth in these areas of development can make a significant change in the way an autistic child progresses in its own development. It is a difference between night and day!

SmartASD® uses your child's strengths to build on. The system is Evidence Based and similar to strategies from Relationship Development Intervention (RDI), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Sensory Integration (SI). SmartASD® does not replace those therapies, but combines proven techniques from RDI, ABA and SI as a short time Do-It-Yourself-While-We-Give-Support Intervention.

Attention Procedures Communication Behaviour Readiness to Learn

The above steps play a very important role in the SmartASD® programme and can also be explained like this:
  1. Identify outcome.
  2. What behaviour is needed?
  3. How do we communicate?
  4. Identify procedures.
  5. Build on child's strengths.

In other words: In SmartASD® we shape each step, which accelerates future learning. If a child is not ready to learn, why bother? That would only frustrate the child and the parent, and it certainly does not create a pleasant environment in which we can promote growth in skills.

Like every comprehensive programme, SmartASD® relies heavily on the consistency and the persistence of the participant. In other words, If you don't do the assignments (with your child), there will probably be almost no improvement.

It takes about 15 minutes every day to do the program.
If that is going to be a problem, don't even bother to read further.

SmartASD® has its own protected client area. This area is only accessible to current clients who are enrolled in the Programme.

In the Protected Client Area you have access to:

Your workshops at set intervals. This makes rushing virtually impossible.
Our Autism Spectrum Disorder Quick Reference Book.
Our Consultation Desk, where you can ask for help regarding specific difficulties.
Our Autism News Blog, where we will keep you informed on ASD.
and... if needed, we even help you create Smart Goals for your child's IEP or PPP.

SmartASD®, as an Online Programme, has a major advantage over traditional face-to-face programmes: It is always available at a fraction of the costs of traditional counselling.

Another advantage is that you will always receive the most up-to-date version of the Programme, since updates are processed instantly.

And ... you can start right away after your sign up!

It's certainly true that most experts recommend early intervention. In fact, some experts feel that even the youngest toddlers with signs of autism could benefit from treatment. There's no doubt that autistic children who undergo early intervention, be it behavioural or developmental, do better than children who don't. The truth is, though, that unless you have a special "in" with the right doctors or clinic, you will have to wait. The good news is, that SmartASD® is an appropriate "do it yourself" intervention which you can implement right now. And there's certainly no good reason to wait!

Many therapists only look at traditional counselling and therapy, and forget to educate their clients on short-term interventions. Some do not believe that parents can actually play a very significant role in helping their own child, while they are being placed on the waiting list.

SmartASD® is not intended to replace traditional counselling and therapy, but it creates a window of opportunity for you and your child to start working on social and developmental skills while you wait for treatment.

SmartASD® is not for everybody, since some children have a very complex profile. Many have multiple diagnoses which makes any treatment or intervention a challenge. Read the statements below and tick all that apply. If you were able to tick every box, you and your child could benefit from participating in SmartASD®.

Your child has recently been diagnosed by a qualified professional
(such as a child development psychologist, paediatrician or child psychiatrist)
Your child cognitive ability is at least around average (IQ=85 - 115)
(this is important since children with below average IQ need a different approach)
Your child has not received any RDI or ABA
(if s/he has, you will know what RDI and ABA means)
You and your child have at least 15 minutes per day available
(to do the assignments in the eWorkbook)

Enrolment is limited to 50 participants only. I would not be able to give individual counselling if I would accept additional clients. These participants will have access to:

Our SmartASD® eWorkbooks combining knowledge and assignments
Our Autism Spectrum Disorder Quick Reference Book
Our Consultation Desk, which is open 24/7
  Our Autism News Blog

and since SmartASD® is completely online, you won't get frustrated by:

long waiting lists
extraordinary counselling bills
trying to fit the therapy into your week schedule
unnecessary continuous sessions.

The registration process is easy and fast. This means you will be able to start working with your child in almost no time!

The program starts March 1st, 2009.
