In the 15 years I have worked with children (as a teacher, special needs consultant and educational psychologist), I have never seen students with exactly the same needs for support. Therefore, it is my opinion that every treatment, remediation or counselling has to be tailor made to suit the student's individual need.

SmartASD combines techniques taken from popular and sometimes less known methods to make remediation as efficient as possible. It is like finding the groceries you like in different supermarkets: you only buy the quality you prefer.

 A few of those methods:

ABA: Applied behaviour Analysis: the science of applying experimentally derived principles of behaviour to improve socially significant behaviour. ABA takes what we know about behaviour and uses it to bring about positive change.

RDI: Relationship Development Intervention: a trademarked proprietary treatment program for autism spectrum disorders (ASD), based on the belief that the development of dynamic intelligence is the key to improving the quality of life for individuals with autism.

SIT: Sensory Integration Therapy: an active therapy. The child must be motivated by and engaged in the activities;  play is the medium of choice.

... and others such as REBT and NLP.

All these methods have been tested by their creators for numerous years and all have a scientific base. If you want to look up the particulars of each method, click on the link to go to the official support pages of those methods.

Sometimes names can create some anxiety. For instance, Behaviour Therapy sounds like an intervention where a person gets completely conditioned and transferred into another being. That is not the case.

Our techniques are all evidence based and only to improve your child's life. If we find a technique to be less effective, we replace it with another technique, just to suit your child's individual needs.

A classroom teacher has to make sure every child receives education to their fullest ability. This is called Differentiated Instruction. SmartASD uses the same concept.
